On 27.03.2024, a final meeting was held in the city of Vidin under the project MAKING-CITY (“Energy-efficient path for urban transformation: ensuring a positive future”), financed under the Horizon program and implemented by the Municipality of Vidin with partner “Green Synergy Cluster . Within the framework of the event, the long-term vision for sustainable energy and climate of the Municipality of Vidin, developed within the framework of the project, was presented.
Eng. Daniela Kostova and Eng. Petar Kisiov from the “Green Synergy” Cluster, Anna Vitkova – Bulgarian Council for Sustainable Development, Emilio Miguel Mitre – Spanish Council for Green Building took part in the forum, which was held at the Jules Paskin Cultural Center , Eng. Borislav Ivanov – EnEfect, Diyana Paunova – Sofia Energy Agency “Sofena”, representatives of interested parties, media and others.
During the event, engineer Daniela Kostova presented in detail the developed long-term energy strategy of the town of Vidin until 2050. The participants were informed about practical examples of the transformation of buildings into energy positive ones, and two key projects for the city were presented, as well as details of future initiatives.
MAKING-CITY is an important project for the Municipality of Vidin, because through it the energy future of the city is planned – a vision until 2050. Within the city and the project, two energy-positive zones have been defined, which are located in the residential complexes “Bononia” and “Khimik” and include both privately owned buildings and public-municipal owned ones. For part of the buildings owned by the Municipality of Vidin – City Student Dormitory, “Yordan Radichkov” Public School, “P. R. Slaveykov” and “Nezabravka” kindergarten, investment projects for the introduction of energy efficiency measures have already been prepared. In the “Chemist” complex, one of the largest projects for the complete transformation of the secondary school building “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”. Funding for it is provided under the Norwegian Programme.
“The aspiration of the Municipality of Vidin is to implement successful practices in these two designated areas, applying the experience of the leading cities in the project and thus district by district, zone by zone, with small steps, to truly transform our city into one – a beautiful and better place to live,” said Borisova.
MAKING-CITY is funded under the European Union Framework Program for Scientific Research and Innovation “Horizon 2020”. The project started on 01.12.2018 and its implementation will continue until 30.11.2024.
